Winter Physics Camp


A-Star Physics Camp is a unique opportunity for interested and talented students to be prepared for Physics Olympiad.

It is a day camp focus on F=ma test and consists of accelerated coverage of topics and special problem solving techniques.

    5. USACO Platinum contestant

Discounts are valid only during Regular Registration Period. Select sibling discount for each student including the first one. You can also select "Sibling Discount" if the same student is registering for multiple courses excluding online courses and Training Classes.

Camp Schedule

Typical daily schedule will be as follows:

8:30-9:00 Student drop-off
9:00-12:15 Classes
12:15-1:45 Lunch (will be provided)
1:45-5:00 Classes
5:00-5:30 Student pick-up

Levels and Curriculum

Levels: There will be only one level that focuses on preparation for the F=ma test with intensive training.

Prerequisites: Knowledge of mathematics at the algebra 2 level (with some omissions) including:

  • Functions, Equations, and Graphs
  • Linear Systems
  • Matrices (optional)
  • Quadratic Equations and Functions
  • Polynomials and Polynomial Functions
  • Radical Functions and Rational Exponents
  • Exponential and Logarithmic Functions
  • Quadratic Relations
  • Sequences and Series (optional)
  • Probability and Statistics (optional)

Curriculum: Winter Pysics camp consists of accelerated coverage of topics and special problem solving techniques.

Topics: F=ma exam is a multiple choice test which is administered in January. The following topics will be covered during the camp:

  • Motion Along a Straight Line
  • Motion in two or three dimensions
  • Equilibrium
  • Newton's Laws of motion
  • Work and Energy
  • Momentum and collisions
  • Rigid Body Dynamics
  • Gravitation
  • Periodic Motion

Lectures are given by aStar Faculty and other instructors who have participation and/or training experience in national/internationals Olympiads like USA Physics Olympiad, International Physics Olympiads.
