AMC 10/12

Intensive Advanced

If you completed AMC 10/12 Basic training, this course is the pathway to national recognitions such as AIME qualification. This course also serves as a good introduction for future AIME training.

This class is equivalent to a condensed study of a whole year training of AMC 10/12 Advanced. It covers most of Part 1 and Part 2 curriculum including Algebra, Geometry, Number Theory, and Combinatorics, focusing on Geometry and Combinatorics. Each week students will study two new topics. See curriculum details below in the Curriculum tab. Topic selection is adjusted based on the students' requests.

To register, students must be able to solve at least 15 problems at a recent AMC 10/12 exam.

Each class start with a brief lecture that includes example problems. Afterwards, a set of related problems appeared in AMC 10, AMC 12 or similar contests are interactively discussed and then explained by the instructor. Students are expected to study the remaining problems as homework. Solutions are provided.

The meetings end right before the official AMC 10/12 exams of this year.

Student must have completed AMC 10/12 Basic training. It is expected that student is able to solve at least 15 problems at a recent AMC 10/12 exam.

You can either take a published contests or take our Placement test here. First you will need to create an account for the student for the site. Please contact us if you encounter any difficulty.

AMC 10 is for grades 10 or lower. AMC 12 is for any student. In any given year, more than half of AMC 12 exam questions are also AMC 10 questions. There are a few extra topics in AMC 12 (mainly trigonometry, logarithms, and complex numbers). They are gradually covered in AMC 10/12 training. See the curriculum tab for details. Most students eventually take AMC 12. So it makes sense to prepare for both from the beginning.

Year-round classes are recommended for younger students. Year-round (YR) classes cover entire curriculum during the live discussion of weekly meetings. In contrast, in the Intensive (INT) version of the same course, selected portions of the curriculum are provided as recorded lectures in order to cover twice as much material in a week. Office hours are integral part of the Intensive classes. They are optional for the year-round classes. Year-round classes finish the level curriculum in two parts, where Part I is taken in the Fall and Part II is taken in the spring. However, Intensive courses finish the level curriculum in one semester.

If you need to take an Intensive course that is not available, you may want to take a self paced version bundled with live office hour.
